Atlanta Community ToolBank*

Serving elderly homeowners and non-profit organizations since the early 1990’s, the ToolBank has outgrown its current Mechanicsville facility.  Committed to its longstanding relationship with its neighbors, the leaders of the ToolBank have chosen to renovate their existing facility to increase both its administrative and service capacities.

Aspiring to manifest its corporate priorities, the ToolBank sought a design solution that would maximize the re-use of the existing facility, leverage donated materials, serve as an example of what buildings can be, and nurture the relationships it values with its primarily residential neighbors.

Although developed only to the schematic design level, the new facility tracks Platinum in the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system.  As the ToolBank continues to raise the necessary capital to realize the project, the design is being reviewed to find opportunities for even more efficiency in design and use of materials.
